College food focus reflection

My college experience with food, has, undoubtedly, been pretty good so far. Other than time constraints, the food choice here is tremendous, and I'm a huge fan of some of the options. My favorites so far have been grilled cheese on Texas toast, fries, and the burgers. Every Thursday, my roommates and I head down to Highsmith Hall and chow down on some cheeseburgers from who we know as, 'the burger guy'. Every time we're there, he graces us with some of the most amazing burgers on earth. This is an unhealthy practice, though we make up for this at the gym later. I often forget to eat, though, as it's hard to find the time to work in a full, healthy meal between a small break.

Show and Tell Focus Reflection

Awoken by a screech, Jordan heaved a sigh and took his date by the hand. His night had already gone awry when the rental company went AWOL, and was reduced to flagging down a taxi at the last minute, pick up his date in a disappointing vehicle, and sit through an hour of heavy downtown traffic. The vents of the vehicle had a scent redolent of rose petals, compromise, and disappointment.

Handing the driver his fee, Jordan closed the door behind himself, only to notice that his coat was caught in the door after it had closed. The hasty cab driver had already began his search for a new victim though, and Jordan's coat with it, but not before knocking Jordan down and almost bringing him along. Dusting himself off, Jordan smiled, and with an awkward laugh, took his date by the arm into the fated establishment.

It was the grand opening of Le Establishment Grande, and the prices were evident.
"I think I'll stick to the appetizer and wine.", Jordan said, a knot forming in his throat, as he noted his wallet was about to get much thinner. His date, however, had other plans. Jordan started refinancing his home in his mind, as bad went to worse.

Food Matters Focus Reflection

I’ve never been the biggest fan of food. It’s always something I’ve been picky about, when my mom’s driving down the highway towards the city and asks, “What do you guys want to eat?”, and I either don’t reply or tell her to choose. The choice never mattered for me, honestly, and it still doesn’t today. Maybe for nutritional purposes, but once again, I’m not big on counting calories. Food does, however, matter to me in one way: socially.
Communion is a huge part of the Christian religion, which is a symbol of the last supper, when Jesus revealed that he would be betrayed by one of his own. In partaking of bread and wine together, they did something more than eat for hunger or nourishment, but for a symbolic social purpose. Communion doesn’t have to be religious though, as my friends and I typically eat together, share what has gone on during our day, and laugh together. It could be a date, dinner, or family meeting, all with one central premise: being together, and eating.

Though my personally eating habits might be lackluster, Food is no doubt important to society and social interaction.
