The Pleasures of Eating Response
I feel that the author of this piece is a bit over-critical of eaters, and the way we consume. Sometimes people don't have the time to enjoy food, it's often a luxury we take for granted. These might be more important culturally than physically or to one's well-being, but might still be important to pleasure. It seems that the author assumes the reader is actively engaged or cares about food, while many people don't. I for one, don't care much for food at all, why should I have to? As long as my body is sustained, I can continue doing things I enjoy, rather than learning 'food culture'. I act in this world productively. If there was a miracle substance that would solve my bodily needs for sustenance, I would use it, because it eliminates the need and time wasted on preparing and eating food. An average meal can take from thirty minutes to an hour to prepare, let alone eat. That's about a twelfth of your day, for one meal. That's assuming you cook your own dinner, and only your dinner. If you were to cook a full breakfast, sit down to eat it, then prepare a lunch, pack, and eat it, followed by dinner preparations and eating, that's about a fourth of one's day. Three hours of eating and preparing food. I might be a bit biased because I'm not a fan of food, but I still believe that this is quite a bit of time.

Service Learning Journal Reflection #1
Unfortunately, My service learning experience hasn’t gone well so far. The day I was supposed to go to service learning orientation, there was an academic integrity seminar I had to attend. As a result, I had to add an hour of service work to my total. In addition, I didn’t learn about the locations or procedures for service learning. When I had plans to volunteer on sunday, my family decided to stay late and have ‘family time’. Finding someone to go with was a priority of mine as well, so they could show me some of what was going on. I hope to fix this soon and better manage my time to work at the gardens.

Food Challenge Response
According to the food challenge, I haven't tried many foods, which is true, honestly. I tend to be a bit of a picky eater, which isn't a big deal, but shows that when it comes to food, my taste is uncultured. The existence of this challenge is to see how cultured one's tastes are, as compared to the typical person. I've tried more foods that weren't on the list, but the ones on the list that were foreign had been tried when I was in such a diverse high school.
